Lucknow: The Khawja Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arabi-Farsi University here will make study of Urdu compulsory at all levels and with all courses. This was stated here by Vice chancellor Dr. Anis Ansari (IAS retd.). While studies in faculties such as Management, Commerce, Science and Technology and Humanities would be through English medium, Urdu would be added as a paper and would continue till the highest level. He said 16 departments were being set up under the university i.e., English, Commerce, Management, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Computer Application, History, Geography, Home Science, Mass Communication, B.Ed, Political Science, Economics and Physical Education. The University was set up in 2009 as Dr. Kanshi Ram Urdu, Farsi-Arabi University by the erstwhile Mayawati Government. Last year, it was rechristened as Khawja Moinuddin Chishti Urdu, Arabi-Farsi University. Its campus is coming up on Sitapur-Hardoi Road near Lucknow.
