It is often said England and America on two sides of Atlantic Ocean are divided by the English language.
There are some differences between the way English is used by the British and the Americans. Major difference between British English (BrE) and the American English AmE) happens in matter of spellings. But it may extend to formation of sentences, nouns and verbs also. Let us see some differences in spellings
In British English those words ending in ““ence, end in -ense in American English. For instance, Defence in BrE is Defense in AmE, Licence becomes License and pretence is written as pretense.
While ‘travel’ is same in both versions, its present participle is written as ‘Travelling’ in BrE and as ‘Traveling’ in AmE.
