International Conference on Ijma

Istanbul:
Muslim scholars from around the world will come together at an international conference in Turkey to discuss Ijma (scholarly consensus) and unity among Muslims. Themed, “Ijma as a Common Road and Collective Awareness”, the two-day symposium will open in Istanbul on April 27, 2013. The conference is co-organised by the Yeni Ümit and Hira magazines. Participants include lleader of Tunisia’s ruling Ennahda party, Rachid Ghannouchi, Professor Mehmet Görmez, Head of Turkey’s Religious Affairs, and former Egyptian mufti, Ali Gomaa. The importance of ijma and its implementation by the companions of the Prophet, will be one of the topics of discussion.
