The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) released a report highlighting challenges faced by Afghan women entrepreneurs, revealing that 73% face travel restrictions without a male escort. This limitation hampers business activities and doubles travel costs. Despite obstacles, entrepreneurship serves as a vital income source, creating job opportunities. However, in Taliban-controlled areas, where women’s employment has plummeted to 6%, mobility restrictions exacerbate challenges. Urgent action is needed to support and empower women entrepreneurs amid Taliban-imposed limitations on women’s rights.
