Art Exhibition Winners Felicitated

These Hindu, Muslim families swapped kidneys, saved lives, broke stereotypes

Aligarh: At the conclusion of the three-day Annual Art Exhibition ‘2022 that the Department of Fine Arts organized at the Moinuddin Art Gallery, Ms. Yamini Baghel and Ms. Farheen from the Department of Fine Arts and Ms. Adiba Nizami and Ms. Rashi Sharma from the Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University were honoured with the four best painting awards.

The award certificates were presented to the finalists by the chief guest, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez (Pro-Vice Chancellor), and the guest of honour, Prof. Naima Khatoon (Principal, Women’s College)at a ceremony held on September 19.

The former dean of the faculty of fine arts at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Professor Sadre Alam, a member of the jury and a guest of honour, praised the exhibition’s artworks for their high calibre.

Prof. Mohd Gulrez lauded the students’ unique artworks and noted that such shows assist young artists to gain confidence and better comprehending the difficulties involved in finding suitable employment and establishing a profession. Female students’ participation in the exhibition was praised by Professor Naima Khatoon, who also pushed them to pursue success in this subject by working harder and more passionately.

The artwork on show at the art gallery, according to Professor Badar Jahan (Chairperson, Department of Fine Arts, and Coordinator, Moinuddin Ahmad Art Gallery), was created by students using a variety of mediums, techniques, and experiments over the course of several years. The award function’s proceedings were presided over by Dr. Waseem Mushtaq.
