New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia held a ‘Special C o n v o c a – tion’ on April 27, 2012, to confer the degree of ‘Doctor of Letters’ on Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary General to United Nations. Ban Ki- Moon is the eighth and current Secretary-General of the United Nations. He has been a career diplomat. His first posting was to New Delhi. In 2011, Ban Ki-Moon ran unopposed for a second term as Secretary-General and was nanimously re-elected to the post of Secretary General by the General Assembly. He will continue to serve in his current position until 31 December 2016.
