Medical College to be named after Mahmoodul Hasan

Saharanpur: The Uttar Pradesh Government has decided to name the newly started Government Medical College after Maulana Mahmoodul Hassan, remembered as Sheikhul Hind. Announcement to this effect was made by UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at a press conference in Lucknow on November 23.
Mahmoodul Hassan was imprisoned for three years in Malta for leading the freedom struggle. Leading Jamiatul Ulema Hind, he provided finance for the nation-wide tour of Mahatma Gandhi. He was also one among the founders of Jamia Millia Islamia along with Mahatma Gandhi and Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar.
