Foundation stone was laid here for the construction of a new block in the Yelgundapalyam Urdu and English Medium Govt High
School in Austin area of the city. The School had been adopted by Silverline Foundation seven years ago. According to Foundation chairman Farook Mahmood, the new block on 6,000 sq. ft area would add six classrooms at an estimated cost of Rs. 60 lakh. Besides
Foundation, the costs is being shared by Rotary Midtown, Government of Karnataka and local MLA Mr. N. A. Harris. Established in 1921, it is one of the oldest Urdu medium Government schools. It was granted an English medium section two years ago by the Department of Public Instructions. It has currently 400 students on its rolls.
