Jaipur: The Rajasthan Assembly passed the Maulana Azad University Act on the last day of the last session on August 30. The private university will be set up by Marwar Muslim Educational and Welfare Society and commence its functioning in the Kamala Nehru Nagar campus in Jodhpur where it runs nearly 30 schools, colleges, hospitals, institutes and polytechnics. Society’s Hony Secretary Mohammad Atique informed the Islamic Voice that a permanent campus would be built on the outskirts of the city. The Society has been working incessantly for the last three decades to educationally uplift the community. He said the new University would be a recognized minority institution.
