Dubai: Nearly 200 businessmen from the coastal belt of Karnataka who gathered here at the World Trade Centre on May 30, decided to form Canara Business Forum. The Forum would soon set up its offices in Mangaluru in Karnataka and would coordinate activities and information among entrepreneurs. Forum is headed by Mr. S. M. Shariff and chartered accountant Mr. S. M. Khaleel (hailing from Bhatkal) is advisor. Mr. S. M. Beary, chairman, Bearys Group from Bengaluru, Mr. Khalid Noor Mohammad, Yenepoya Mohammad Kunhi, chancellor, Yenopoya University, Mangaluru participated. The Forum would soon register itself as a trade body in Mangaluru, it was announced.
Mass Marriage: Eighteen couples were united in wedlock at a mass marriage sponsored by the Sheriff Charitable Foundation on May 31 at the Muslim Orphanage. Nikah was solemnized by Maulana Maqsood Imran, imam of the City Jama Masjid. Foundation has planned marriage of 50 deserving couples this season. Other such mass marriages would be held at Hassan, Chikamagalur, Saklaspur and Srirangapatna. The Foundation headed by Mrs. Husna Sheriff, wife of builder Ziaulla Sheriff conducts such marriage every year. Each new couple was gifted household items worth Rs. 40,000.
