Netaji’s Bodyguard Dead

Col. Nizamuddin, personal bodyguard of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, died in his village Mubarakpur in Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh on February 6, 2017 at the age of 117. He is survived by his wife Ajabunnissa, who is 107 years old. Col. Nizamuddin had quit the British India Army in 1943 to join the Azad Hind Fauj in 1945 in Singapore. He was with Netaji for two years and bid him a farewell on the bank of Chitang River in Burma (now Myanmar) when Netaji boarded a boat. He had even been wounded by a bullet while protecting Netaji in 1944.
