Tamil writer and litterateur Abdullah Periyardasan died on August 20 in Ambur, 180 kms of west of Chennai. Periyardasan authored nearly 50 books in Tamil. He graduated from Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai and later did his Ph.D from Oxford University. He taught Tamil literature in Pachaiyappa’s college for 34 years. He embraced Islam ten 
years ago and performed Hajj in 2010. He was a Periyar afficionado and translated several books of Ambedkar in Tamil. He was 64. He is survived by his wife Vasantha, and sons Vilavan and Sourdha. He willed that his eyes and body be donated to Madras Medical College for research.
