Muneer Hassan, the cricket commentator who pioneered the commentary in Urdu in 1969 during a club tournament in Pakistan died on July 29 in Karachi. He was 83. The ace commentator convinced the Pakistan Cricket Control Board that commentary in Urdu would be more popular than English. He used to write reviews of matches in popular Pakistani magazines like Akhbar e Watan and later began webcasting it on Showbiz portal.
