M. T. Khan: Noted Communist leader and Journalist, Mr. M.T. Khan passed away on August 20 in Hyderabad. He was 78. He was associated with various movements including freedom of Hyderabad, freedom of Goa and Movement against Emergency. When Communist Party of India got divided into two branches in 1962, he associated himself with CPM and in 1968, he associated himself with CPI(ML). He was also president of Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC) for more than two years. He was associated with revolutionary organizations of the Journalist. Mr. Khan started his career as a Teacher in Dharmavanth High School.
Born in 1935, Khan joined the Left movement during the Telangana Armed Struggle. He was associated with Virasam (Revolutionary Writers Association). He was the printer and publisher of ‘Pilupu’, the fortnightly magazine brought out by People’s War Group leader Kondapalli Seetaramaiah in 1972, as part of the Naxalbari movement. He was the president of AP Civil Liberties Committee for several years and regularly contributed columns for Urdu Daily Siasat, Hyderabad and several newspapers. Funeral was held the same evening.
