Jaipur: The Madrassa Board under the Government of Rajasthan has cancelled the registration of 729 madrassas which were either non-existent, dysfunctional or had fewer than 20 students. The Board initiated action after Data Capture campaign and reports received from the District Minority Welfare Officers on a directive from the Madrassa Board.
The Board had sent notice to the management committees of as many as 902 madrassas a few months ago. Several madrassas improved the situation through fresh enrolment. Yet 729 madrassas were reported to be either non-existent or had fewer students than mentioned in their registers.
