Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury

Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury was elected Speaker of the Bangladesh Parliament called Sangsad on April 29. At 46, Shirin hold a Ph.D. in law from Essex University in Britain. She was earlier Minister for Women and child Affairs in the Prime Minister Hasina Wajid’s cabinet. She replaces former Speaker Abdul Hamid who was elected President of Bangladesh.
