Bileriyaganj (Azamgarh-UP): Syed Hamid Mohsin, chairman, Salaam Centre called upon Muslims to reach out to the countrymen by giving up the ‘Muslim-free zone’ that Muslims have created around themselves everywhere. He said, “We need to come out of the communitarian approach and give up ‘Us versus Them’ mindset. It is only by doing this that we can get into the role of ‘Khair e Ummat’ (best of nations) assigned to us by Allah.
He was speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of the Jamiatul Falah at Bileriyaganj, a village about 14 kilometres north of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Falah pursues a blend of theological and modern curriculum.
Mr. Mohsin said it was tragic that Muslims were shying away from presenting the Holy Quran to non-Muslims whereas the non-Muslims did not feel any hesitation in accepting the Quran.
He advised the huge gathering of Muslim ulema and researchers to purchase the time slots on the local TV channels everywhere and convey the message of Islam and peace to the general masses. ‘These programmes should be made interesting’, he added.
“We also need to introduce a toll-free telephone line to be dedicated to conveying the message of Islam in every regional language. This should be a 24 x 7 service which should provide adequate response to all queries of people”, he said.
He also suggested that animation film on the fundamentals of Islam and Islamic history could also be made. “We have somehow started believing in conveying the message of Islam only among the adults. Why not dawah work among the kids?” he asked. He said, “We need to have software house. Similarly, the women, youth and students too need special programmes. There should be a special cell for women’s dawah programme”.
Mr. Mohsin said, “I feel there is a need for e-dawah programme as Internet connectivity is rising and is revolutionizing the mind. We must keep a sharp eye on the emerging technology and pounce upon it to use it for dawah, “ he averred.
Others who spoke at the occasion were Maulana Jalaluddin Ansar Umri, President of the Jamaat e Islami Hind, Kaka Sayeed Umri, Rector, Jamia Darussalam, Oomerabad, Tamil Nadu and Dr. Zakir Naik of the Peace TV.
