Obituary – Prof. Yejasuddin

Noted Kannada writer and speaker Prof. Yejasuddin passed away in Bengaluru on August 21. He was 80. A Hindi professor at the Government Maharani’s College for Women, Yejasuddin was extremely popular among Kannada-speaking people and was invited to speak on Islam and the life of the holy Prophet. He was also nominated a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council for a term. He was part of the team of editors who translated the holy Quran in Kannada in the 1970s. titled “Divya Quran”, it was published by Shanthi Prakashana, Mangalore in 1977. His wife had died 22 years ago. He leaves behind a son and a daughter. He was laid to rest in Bengaluru.
